Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m Krystal—a Brooklyn-born, second-generation Caribbean and self-taught cook turned wellness advocate.
My story
How Did I Get Here?
Like many of you, my journey with food and wellness has been anything but linear. It’s been shaped by culture, curiosity, and a deep desire to feel good in my body without sacrificing joy.
Let’s be real: I’m a total food geek. I get lost in cookbooks at Barnes & Noble, daydream about flavor combinations, and light up when I discover how food connects us to our heritage, our bodies, and each other. Food has always been more than just fuel for me—it’s comfort during hard times, a reason to gather, and a way to nourish both body and soul.
But wellness? That’s been a learning curve.
I’ve navigated the confusion of nutrition trends, the pressure of perfection, and the struggle to find balance. And that’s why I created this space—because I know what it’s like to want a healthier life without rigid rules or guilt.
This blog is a wellness space that connects food to every part of our lives.
When I was a teenager, I dreamed of starting a blog to celebrate the flavors of my West Indian and African American Heritage.
But over time, that dream grew into something bigger. With a Master’s in Public Health Nutrition and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, I’ve spent years understanding how our relationship with food is shaped by more than just what’s on our plate. It’s about our habits, emotions, upbringing, and even our faith.
This blog is where all of that comes together—where food meets wellness in a way that’s joyful, sustainable, and realistic.
