Welcome!
I’m Krystal—a Brooklyn-born, second-generation Caribbean and self-taught cook turned wellness advocate.
My story
How Did I Get Here?
Like many of you, my journey with food, nutrition, and wellness hasn’t been linear. It’s been shaped by culture, curiosity, and a deep desire to feel good in my body without sacrificing joy.
I’m a registered dietitian and therapist, and I’ve always been drawn to the way food connects us—to our heritage, our bodies, and each other. Food has never been just fuel for me—it’s comfort during hard times, a reason to gather, and a way to nourish both body and mind.
But wellness? That’s been a learning curve.
I’ve navigated the confusion of nutrition trends, the pressure to eat “perfectly,” and the challenge of finding balance in everyday life. That’s why I created this space, because I know what it’s like to want a healthier relationship with food without rigid rules, guilt, or overwhelm.
This blog is a wellness space that connects food to every part of our lives.
When I was a teenager, I dreamed of starting a blog to celebrate the flavors of my West Indian and African American Heritage.
This space is where nutrition, mental health, and everyday life come together.
What started as a love for sharing recipes has grown into something deeper. With a Master’s in Public Health Nutrition and a background in Marriage and Family Therapy, I’ve spent years understanding how our relationship with food is shaped by more than what’s on our plate.
It’s about our habits, emotions, culture, upbringing, and even our faith.
Here, you’ll find plant-forward recipes, realistic nutrition guidance, and honest conversations about mental health and wellness—all designed to help you feel more balanced, nourished, and connected.
